Well we are sorry to say that there will be no new direct flights this year . Not for need of trying we have been hit with high fuel costs which is making it impossible to charter any available aircraft. We hoped to launch a flight to Majorca over the October school holidays but after reviewing costs it has become impossible to operate with the costs quoted by many airlines.
So the only remaining flights this year are the below holidays:
| SORRENTO |
26th September 2008 |
| SCILLY |
01st October 2008 (1 seat remaining) |
| MADERIA |
15th October 2008 |
| |
|
| COLOGNE CHRISTMAS MARKETS |
29th November 2008 |
| LAPLAND |
07th December 2008 |
Not to worry though as we have been working on alternative holidays and this week we are launching packages which include Isle of Man flights to Paris including Disneyland, Gran Canaria, Malta and New York. We know all will prove popular due to cost so keep checking out iomdirectholidays.com as each day we are launching the products individually. Be warned these deals are very, very limited once all is sold out its gone.

What a week it’s been non-stop once again as we work to bring you more direct flights. We have been in France as we prepare for ski flights for next season. Following travelling around 2,500km by road, up to altitudes of 2,800 meters we now have a better programme for next year.
We arrived in Geneva on the last direct flight of the season with Flybe and visited Chamonix where we stayed for the evening. Straight away snow was visible on lower ground but at this time of year you do need to aim higher for the better ski conditions.
Sunday we travelled north to Morzine and Avoriaz. What a great find two fantastic resorts. Avoriaz is a great resort where all you can do is ski no cars are allowed in the resort you have to travel by horse and carriage or via Huskies. Morzine is more suited for après ski and judging from the people who where in the resort it would be perfect for younger adults.

Yes, for those who did realise yesterdays press release was an April fool, sea planes will not be coming to the island anytime in the near future. It was great to hear Manx Radio go along with the media release and we did get a lot of enquires asking to book! With directs in mind we have received news from an airline who we hoped to operate the planned Iceland short break and unfortunately this will not be going ahead due to runway restrictions at Ronaldsway. We would have been under capacity by lots of seats which makes it too expensive. Roll on the extension.
On the other hand we hope to have a new short break to Lapland on sale within the next week. This luxury break will be departing Ronaldsway on 7th December. We have a preview available on the menu to the left but pre-register now as this will be very limited. As normal it will be first come first served.
Just a quick mention about the new route operated by Flybe to Newquay we now have packages available to and from the Isle of Man. Also your comments are welcome on anything related to Isle of Man travel or anything on the site. Did you fall for the April fool? Let us know. That's all for now further updates soon. |

This new generation of sea planes will be a new “greener aircraft” capable of long range flights.
This weekly Saturday to Saturday service will carry up to 120 passengers from the Isle of Man to Puerto Pollensa in northern Majorca. The service will bring back Sea Planes to the resort of Puerto Pollensa for the first time since 1988.
