Isle of Man based Freedom Travel Holidays have today announced the first ever summer series of Mediterranean holiday flights direct from the Island’s Airport.  Between May and September 2010, Freedom will be offering a choice of eight departure dates to the fabulous Balearic Islands of Majorca and Menorca, the first time that a summer series has been available from the Isle of Man.

The first flights will depart on 29 May 2010 and 5 June 2010, and will offer Islanders a choice of 7 night holidays in the delightful Island of Menorca.  This will coincide with practice and TT race weeks on the Isle of Man, swapping the buzz of the Manx TT for the peace and tranquillity of the sun-drenched Mediterranean Island.  Further flights will follow in July, running through to early September, this time to ever popular Majorca.  These direct flights to Palma Airport will give a choice of departures throughout the school summer holidays.  

Jan Wozniak, Chairman and Chief Executive of Freedom Travel, was delighted to be able to offer Isle of Man residents a choice of direct flights to these top Mediterranean destinations.  “We have successfully provided one-off flights from the Island to a number of resorts for many years, and we know that flying direct from Ronaldsway makes all the difference to the holiday,” he said.  “Now, at last, we have been able to secure a wide choice of departure dates throughout peak months to two top Mediterranean destinations, enabling Islanders to choose when to go on holiday rather than be constrained by just one or two dates.”

The weekly Saturday flights direct from Ronaldsway to Palma and Mahon Airports will be operated by Flybe and depart from the Isle of Man at a comfortable time of 10:00 a.m., returning to the Island to arrive at 6:30 p.m.  This means that holidaymakers will be able to soak up the sun by early afternoon and will not need to depart from the resort until after lunch to arrive home in time for tea.  It also removes all the anxiety and costs of transferring flights at a UK airport, with all the discomfort and risk of delays.

The Freedom Travel holiday packages will offer a choice of accommodation from 2-star to 5-star hotels with bed and breakfast, half board and self-catering.  The huge choice of packages to a variety of resorts in Majorca and Menorca are suitable for families, couples and those travelling on their own and will include the cost of flights, accommodation, transfer to hotels and a local representative service.

Prices, too, will be attractive with a week’s holiday with self-catering accommodation in Menorca starting from just £459 per person, for a family of four making the direct flights particularly cost effective when compared with peak holiday travel, involving four flights, via a UK airport.
