Dubrovnik & the Treasures of the Adriatic

This wonderful holiday offers a choice of three hotels in the beautiful Lapad peninsula. Relax in the glorious surroundings of your resort and discover this spectacular corner of the world on included excursions to the walled city of Dubrovnik, historic Mostar, beautiful Montenegro, and a cruise to the unspoiled offshore Elaphite islands.
Itinerary
Day One
Fly to Croatia, and upon arrival, meet your Newmarket Tour Manager and transfer to Lapad Bay and your chosen hotel. The transfer time will be approximately 40 minutes. Take a stroll in this delightful area, with its wooded pathways and waterfront promenades, before dinner is served this evening.
Day Two
A free day to explore your beautiful surroundings and to relax in the hotel. Take a stroll in the shaded woods, soak up the sun on the beach, or perhaps pursue one of the more energetic water activities.
Day Three
Discover the stunning, walled city of Dubrovnik on today's included excursion. See the Old Town, bustling Luza Square, and the magnificent St Blaise's Church on the guided, walking tour. Then look out on Dubrovnik from the city walls and enjoy an afternoon sightseeing or shopping at leisure, before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Day Four
Today you'll travel through the wildlife paradise of the River Neretva delta and the narrowing river gorge, into Bosnia-Herzegovina and historic Mostar. Wander the restored streets and visit the 17th-century Koski Mehmed pasa Mosque, or perhaps purchase some local craftware at the colourful market, before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Day Five
Another free day to enjoy all the delights of your hotel and its surroundings.
Day Six
Journey south today to beautiful Montenegro. See the spectacular Bay of Kotor - Southern Europe's largest fjord, explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kotor itself, and discover the monastery and Royal Palace of the capital, Cetinje. Your last visit will be to picturesque Budva, one of the Adriatic's oldest settlements.
Day Seven
Sail to the offshore Elaphiti - or 'Deer Islands'- on today's included cruise excursion. Discover the sandy beach of tiny Kolocep, and perhaps - depending on the captain's decision - neighbouring Lopud, former watering hole of Dubrovnik's nobility. We'll return to the hotel in time for a farewell dinner.
Day Eight
We leave Croatia and transfer to the airport for the return flight, at the end of an unforgettable holiday.
Wining and Dining
Fresh fish, fruit and vegetables are plentiful, as well as a Mediterranean cuisine of pasta, soups and meat-based dishes. There are many excellent, well-priced local wines to enjoy during your stay. Dubrovnik is very much a modern tourist destination, with a wide choice of international wining and dining options.
Guests on half-board arrangements will generally be offered a choice of starter and main course, with fruit or dessert to follow.
